Abstract: The aim of this study is to adapt the AF5 self-concept scale to Basque. The study of its psychometric properties lies in the search for internal and external validity evidence. The first ones focus on a content analysis carried out by a team of experts and on the assessment of the dimensionality of the scale by means of a confirmatory factorial analysis of the variance-covariance matrix. The relationship between the different dimensions of the self-concept and the gender and educational level variables guarantee the external validity of the scale. As it is an adaptation, the study of the equivalence between the adapted and original versions is of special relevance. This is based on the model of means and covariance structures, which offers an appropriate framework for the analysis of the factorial invariance of the test. A total of 3154 students participated in this research; 1354 Basque speakers and 1800 Spanish speakers. The adapted scale meets the requirements needed for configural and metric equivalence.
