Abstract: To what extent are listening habits or styles and aggressive predispositions linked? To explore this question 171 volunteers (71 females and 100 males) completed the Listening Styles Profile (Watson, Barker, & Weaver, 1995), the Aggression Questionnaire (Buss & Perry, 1992), and the Rebelliousness Questionnaire (McDermott, 1988) as part of a broader "social perceptions" survey. The pattern of findings, which appeared strongest for female respondents, suggests that individuals who tend to be particularly impatient and easily frustrated when listening to others also evidence predispositions to display the cognitive, emotional, and instrumental aspects of aggressiveness in response to an interpersonal disappointment, rebuff, frustration, or affront.
