Abstract

Imagination bridges emotion and cognition, transforming experience into meaning and creative expression. This editorial for Individual Differences Research (Vol. 19) integrates five studies linking affective awareness, embodiment, and creativity—from loneliness and self-consciousness to aesthetic curiosity and noctcaelador, fascination with the night sky. Together, they trace a continuum from emotional regulation to adaptive expression, highlighting the affective imagination as the core mechanism by which feeling becomes meaning and creativity sustains the emotional self.
