The Organized Self: Structure, Evaluation, and Functioning
Author(s): William Kelly
Abstract: This editorial introduces a volume examining the self as an organized psychological system. Across archival and new studies, contributors highlight how self-concept clarity, internal coherence, and ego-related capacities support emotional balance, identity development, and social functioning. Findings show that adaptive behavior and well-being emerge when flexibility and self-regulation are grounded in a cohesive sense of self. Together, these works underscore the role of self-organization in fostering resilience and adjustment during periods of identity formation.
