Abstract: In the present study, the psychometric properties of the scores of the Adult Manifest Anxiety Scale-Adult Version (AMAS-A), a new measure designed to assess chronic, manifest anxiety in young and middle-aged adults, were examined. A sample of 225 adults, ages 18 to 59, was administered the AMAS-A as well as other measures to assess the test score stability (3- to 5-week test-retest interval) and convergent and discriminant validity of the AMAS-A scores. Results of correlational analyses revealed that the AMAS-A scores had adequate to excellent test score stability. Correlational and factor analyses also provided support for the convergent and discriminant validity of the AMAS-A scores. Implications of the findings of the present study for mental health professionals and researchers are discussed
