A goal goal of IDRP is to maintain a fair, transparent, and efficient workflow from initial submission through online publication. For more complete information, authors are encouraged to review this section alongside the publisher Peer Review and Publication Ethics policies as well as the Author Guidelines pages for each journal. The following outlines the standard publication process for manuscripts submitted to IDRP journals.
1. Submission and Editorial Screening
All manuscripts are submitted using the journal’s online submission process. Authors confirm originality, ethical compliance, and agreement with policies. Upon receipt, the editor conducts an initial screening to determine suitability for the journal’s aims and scope, adherence to formatting requirements, and compliance with ethical and scientific standards. Manuscripts that meet these basic criteria proceed to peer review.
2. Peer Review
Reviewers, using field-appropriate standards, provide the editor with an evaluation and recommendations. Peer reviews normally takes 1-2 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and manuscript complexity.
For further details and what reviewers are instructed to look for, see the Peer Review page.
3. Editorial Decision
Following peer review, the editor communicates one of four decisions to authors:
Manuscripts requiring major revision are re-evaluated by the original reviewers when possible. Those accepted with revision are typically re-evaluated by the editor.
4. Acceptance and Proofing
Once accepted, authors pay the APC for their specific journal. Subsequently, manuscripts are formatted and typeset. Accepted manuscripts may undergo light editorial modification during copyediting and typesetting to ensure consistency with journal style and format. Articles are assigned an e-locator (i.e., article number) by the journal. Authors are then provided with a link to galley proofs (a proof of the pre-published article) by email for review and approval prior to online release. At this point major changes are not allowed.
5. Online Publication
Articles are published online on a rolling basis soon after author approval of proofs. Each article is assigned a unique DOI upon publication and is immediately accessible and citable in the current volume. Once the DOI resolves, changes to metadata (title, authors, abstract, keywords) are not allowed. The final version of record is made available online for indexing in databases. We have no control over indexing time.
6. Post-Publication
Minor typographical corrections may be allowed post-publication following editorial review. Substantive corrections are discouraged but if absolutely needed can be published as errata. Retractions are documented transparently on the article record.
In summary:
The full publication process from submission receipt to online publication normally takes 2-6 weeks, depending on reviewer turnaround, editorial volume, and author revisions prior to acceptance. This streamlined timeline reflects our commitment to prompt and transparent dissemination of quality research.
